Windows Microsoft .NET Framework Problems



  • While installing games or softwares you might have faced this problem.
  • Once you start installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or 4.0 using software or by Command Prompt, you might have faced this message like                                    “Error Code : 0x800F0906 or 0x800F090681F“.



1.  Enabling the .NET Framework options if aldready installed:       

If your PC is aldready installed with both versions 3.5 and 4.0 then you can follow the instructions below to solve.

Opening Windows Features Dialog Box :

       STEP 1 :     Type “Windows Features” in Windows Search Box by Clicking                                         Windows key.


                                  Go to  Control panel ⇒ Click Programs and Features                                                                ⇒  Click “Turn Windows Feature On or Off” near top left corner.

Enabling .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.0: 

STEP 1 :      As the Dialog box opens you can enable them by ticking                                            the checkboxes with .NET Framework 3.5 and .NET Framework 4.0.


STEP 2 :      Then Click OK.

That’s it now you can enjoy all the required services.

        Note : If you are not having those checkboxes then follow the below methods.

2.  To avoid errors like“Error Code : 0x800F0906 or 0x800F090681F” :

           Changing Group policies:

   STEP 1 :     Go to Run dialog box (or) click “Win+R”.

   STEP 2 :     Type “gpedit.msc” and then click Ok.

   STEP 3 :     Select “Computer Configuration” and then go to                                                      Administrative Templates ⇒ System and select and double-click                        “Specify settings for optional component installation and                                     component repair” by dragging down from the settings list.


   STEP 4 :     Then select the “Enabled” checkbox and also tick in “Download                           repair content and optional features directly from windows                               update instead of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)“.


   STEP 5 :     Then Select Ok. Now the updating windows services problem is                               solved and the error message will not be repeated.

3.  Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.0 using Official Application:

           Note : You must have Windows 8.0 or above to work on this easy method.

   STEP 1 :      Download the official application developed by clicking here.

   STEP 2 :      Open the “Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Offline Installer.exe” by                          giving “Run as administrator” which is an important one.

   STEP 3 :       Go to “Install .NET Framework 3.5” tab.


   STEP 4 :        In “Windows 8 Installation Media Drive” option select the Drive                             in which the Operationg System folder locates.

   STEP 5 :        In “Installation source” browse and select “sxs” folder from                                     “sources\sxs”  path in the OS folder.

   STEP 6 :        Then Go for Start Installation and wait for some minutes.It will                              notify once it gets completed.

4.  Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.0 using Command Prompt :     

     Note : You must have Windows 8.0 or above to work on this easy  method.                

   STEP 1 :     Open the “Elevated Command Prompt”. If you are not familiar                                 with this then click here to see how to open.

   STEP 2 :     Then type “Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3                           /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess“.


   STEP 3 :     Replace “D:\sources\sxs” with your location in which your “sxs                         folder from OS folder locates.

   STEP 4 :     Then wait till operation gets completer successfully.


IMPORTANT NOTE : If the game or software asks for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or 4.0 again then repeat the First solution to activate it.
